SMART offers two employment pathways providing Information, Advice, and Guidance, along with a wide range of personalised practical help, advice, and coaching to support people in gaining or retaining work in the mainstream competitive job market.

Finding Work
For those looking to enter or re-enter the job market, we provide hands-on practical support including:
Job searching and identifying suitable opportunities
Writing a CV and cover letter
Completing application forms
Preparing for interviews
Managing your wellbeing in the workplace
Guidance on disclosing health issues to employers
Staying in Work
For those already in employment who need support to remain in their role, we can help with:
Staying in work and managing day-to-day challenges
Navigating workplace adjustments
Returning to work after a period of sick leave
Understanding your employment rights
Liaising with employers on your behalf where needed
Vocational Support
For those who may need to build their experience, skills, or confidence before entering the job market, we offer vocational support including:
Accessing relevant courses and further education
Identifying and securing volunteering opportunities
Working towards longer-term employment goals at a pace that suits you
Our impact
In the project year 2025–2026, our employment teams achieved the following:
Supported 91 people to gain paid employment.
Supported 40 people to retain their current role or return to work after a period of sick leave.
Supported 62 people with their vocational goals, including training, further education, and volunteering.
