Healthy Kickers

Healthy Kickers

Healthy Kickers is a football group run by SMART and London Cyrenians Housing, with professional coaching provided by Queens Park Rangers F.C.

Who can play

Healthy Kickers is open to men and women of all ages and abilities. We adapt all sessions to meet the fitness and support needs of everyone who attends and our expert coaches are able to challenge and improve every player appropriately, within the group.

What happens at the group

Each session begins with a warm up, some football skills lessons and is followed by a series of 7-a-side football matches. Support Staff from SMART and London Cyrenians are always on hand to provide motivation and additional advice, to ensure participants develop the confidence to engage fully with the sessions.

When and Where

Every Thursday from 1:30pm – 3pm at the Westway Sports Centre, 1 Crowthorne Rd, London W10 6RP. Tube: The nearest tube is Latimer Road (Hammersmith & City line). Bus: The 295 and 316 stops on Bramley Road and the 7 stops on nearby Cambridge Gardens.

How to join

Healthy Kickers is open to anyone with a mental health diagnosis. SMART Project Members can join by simply signing a code of conduct. If a person is not a SMART Project Member, they will need to be referred by Support Staff from an approved organisation and charity. The referral provides us with basic details and an assessment of physical and any other support needs. We welcome referrals from the tri-borough area: RBKC, Westminster, and Hammersmith & Fulham.

To join the Healthy Kickers, participants will need to be referred by Support Staff from approved organisations and charities (e.g. LCH/ SMART) who will need to complete an assessment of Service Users physical and support needs. Those involved will of course treat this information with the utmost respect for confidentiality practices- if you wish to see a copy of our confidentiality policies, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If your organisation would like to be involved in referring clients to participate- please contact Kinga Kwiecinska (020 7376 4668, kinga.kwiecinska@smartlondon.org.uk )
